The Long Typhoon refers to a decade-long climate catastrophe originating in the Pacific Ocean. The super-storm led to a hemispheric division of humanity, with cities touched by the Pacific suffering marine famine and undergoing a regional dark old age. The balkanization of various political entities which took place for this era paved the way for the period of reconfigured unifications which followed.
