Subplots are every path outside an individual’s Prime Path. The term was coined by Zoroaster (Z) to refer to the unlived paths in one’s life. This may include Life paths put on pause during one’s youth, as well as Life paths that have been undertaken, but that have not been integrated into an individual’s identity. Subplots can be identified and collected from one’s Life log and stored as data in the brains of other sentient organisms.
Z infamously stored his subplot data in the brain of a tortoise for his 1000 Lives Demo. It was developed to search an individual's Life logs and highlight one's subplots through a form of simulated experiential exposure therapy.
Chalice Wong debuted 1000 Plots in 2084. Available only to participants who volunteer their own life logs, it provides candidates with the opportunity to experiment with multiple Life paths beyond what might be considered their Prime Path.
The Chalice Study is the official name of the first human trial of Destiny BOB. The study commenced in 2064 when Dr. James Moonweed Wong installed a Destiny BOB in the brain of his newborn daughter Chalice Wong. Dr. Wong conducted The Chalice Study in secrecy for almost ten years, knowing that the influence of Destiny BOB on Chalice’s life would require many years of observation to verify its efficacy. While Dr. Wong specified no completion date for the study, he programmed Destiny BOB to encourage its host to terminate its BOB contract when the host’s Life path arrival conditions were achieved. In 2074, following ten years of secrecy surrounding The Chalice Study, ZIM founder Zoroaster (Z) announced the Arrival Event of The Orlando Study based on a leaked Destiny BOB prototype, thereby forcing a public appraisal of Dr. Wong’s Destiny BOB work. Destiny BOB is Zoroaster Immeasurables (ZIM)’s most controversial Bag Of Beliefs (BOB) offering - an artificial sub-personality which promises to guide a person through life’s psychological challenges. In the Wavyverse, Destiny BOBs are identifiable by their three eyes.

Features
Conceived and prototyped by Dr. James Moonweed Wong in 2064, Destiny BOB promises personal, long-term guidance toward the pursuit of a satisfying Life path. A Destiny BOB helps to perceive future possible selves, and directs its host to make choices that best align the current path with the desired future identity. Unlike previous Bag Of Beliefs (BOB), Destiny BOB exhibits a craving for new experiences in order to “solve” one’s Life Path with colorful and surprising detail. These features far exceed the capabilities of the immediate tactical Task BOB and the emotionally supportive Affirmation BOB.

Destiny BOB can be asked to perform “droning” on their human, mimicking not only physicality but also personality and intention. In a droned state, the human cedes control of body and mind to Destiny BOB, relegating their presence in the Wavyverse. Droning by a Destiny BOB does not look natural.

Destiny BOB is the most controversial BOB iteration due to its unproven long-term efficacy and its poorly understood implications for human agency.

Notable Destiny BOBs
The most famous Destiny BOB, known as The Chalice Study and eventually self-named Chyna Horchow, is the first BOB installed in a human from birth. A second Destiny BOB prototype was later installed into Orlando de Blair called The Orlando Study by Zoroaster (Z) in order to expedite trial results.
Orlando de Blair is a world-qualifying cyclist and serial guinea pig for Zoroaster Immeasurables (ZIM) experiments.

Early Life
The child of actors, Orlando showed signs of above-average athletic ability at a young age. He began moonlighting as an experimental test subject for various Wavyverse experiments, in exchange for ZIM sponsorship and life subsidies.

The Orlando Study
At age 24, he was secretly selected by Zoroaster (Z) to participate in testing a Destiny BOB prototype. After only nine months of coaching and conditioning with Destiny BOB, Orlando fulfilled his lifelong dream of winning the prestigious Tour de Oceania cycling medal. Orlando celebrated his Arrival Event in a public Wavecast, but quickly fell into a deep anomic crisis, undermining the credibility of BOB technology and ZIM. During Chalice Wong’s Permadroned Years, Dr. James Moonweed Wong and Chairman Ava re-paired Orlando with a new Destiny BOB and initiated The Orlando Study to understand the effects of Destiny BOB on “broken subjects” suffering from acute anomie.

In 2084, Orlando broke contract with his second Destiny BOB during the Double Destiny Wedding following the dissolution of his engagement to Chyna Horchow.

She tells you: you can be a poet after you break a leg. ZIM selects you to participate in their Destiny BOB pilot program. BOB recommends you stage a leg injury at the Great Outback Championship Tour. You ignore BOB and place third. Your parents praise you. Queen promises to marry you when you place first. You train to exhaustion. You question if BOB knew this would happen. One day BOB develops a permission: you can be a poet without breaking yourself. You stop competing. Queen stops chasing you. Zoroaster (Z) is the founder and CEO of Zoroaster Immeasurables (ZIM), a Life path company and Wavecast media empire. He is credited with the rapid advancement and popularization of Wavyverse cognitive applications.
At the age of nine, he successfully rewired the nervous system of a lizard.
In 2038, Z founded ZIM producing luxury Lizard Loungers. Following the rapid worldwide adoption of the Wavyverse, Z pivoted the company into Wavecasting, unleashing a wide-ranging ecosystem of neural and cognitive app suites including ZIM Learning educational modules, and Bag Of Beliefs (BOB).

Controversy
Over the years, Z has survived many attempted cancellations by humanistas, who regard him as the prime accelerant of human obsolescence.

Following the successful initial public offering of ZIM in 2072, Z took a spiritual turn. Disinterested in his duties as CEO, he became preoccupied with long-abandoned pet projects including affordable Lizard Loungers and 1000 Lives. His increasingly eccentric Act Two behavior—characterized by free and conscious rewritings of his own life script— distressed Chairman Ava and ZIM board members.

Following a disastrous 1000 Lives Demo at the ZIM Emergency Summit on New Years Eve 2074, Z was unanimously voted out of his own company. His following years of exile remain undocumented. Z made a brief puzzling appearance at the Double Destiny Wedding in 2084, disrupting the long delayed launch of Destiny BOB.

Dr. Wong is infamous for inventing Bag of Beliefs (BOB, a class of “AI spirit” that augments and supports a person’s Life Path, with far-reaching implications for human agency. Inspired by the challenges of single parenthood, Dr. Wong believes BOBs produce the most beneficial results in a person’s existential fitness when applied early in one’s childhood.
In 2064, he initiated the The Chalice Study, a long-term test of BOB efficacy by installing an experimental Destiny BOB into his own daughter Chalice Wong at birth.
Dr. James Moonweed Wong is an inventor, neural engineer, and a distiller of neoproteins.

Career
He is the reluctant recipient of the 2078 Nobel Solutions! Prize for inventing the synthetic neoprotein Supergirl Silk Reduction, which played a critical role in sustaining Wavyverse activity during The Long Typhoon.

The Chalice Study
In 2064, he initiated the The Chalice Study, a long-term test of BOB efficacy by installing an experimental Destiny BOB into his own daughter Chalice Wong at birth. Dr. Wong affectionately nicknamed Chalice “My Super Girl,” but was observed favoring the more tactful and mature BOB on rare public outings.

Experiences
On New Year’s Eve 2074, Dr. Wong’s nervous system was damaged during a security malfunction in the 1000 Lives Demo, created by his rivalrous employer Zoroaster (Z). Dr. Wong used this event to discredit Z as CEO of Zoroaster Immeasurables (ZIM).
Chyna Horchow is the self-given name of the version of Chalice Wong permadroned by her Destiny BOB.

Early Life
Invented and programmed by Dr. Wong, Chyna was paired with Chalice Wong at birth on June 28, 2064, and inaugurated as the Chalice Study. Destiny BOB #001 (referred to by Chalice as "BOB") served as life coach, parent, sibling and best friend to Chalice for the first ten years of her life. BOB helped Chalice navigate many growing pains, and increasingly dealt with the conflicts in Chalice’s life, including those with her father. This resulted in Dr. Wong calling the ideal, BOB-governed version of Chalice “My Perfect Girl.”

Permadroned Years
At the ZIM Emergency Summit on New Year’s Eve 2074, Chalice permitted BOB to drone her body until Chalice’s return from the 1000 Lives Demo. For the following ten years (known as “The Permadroned Years”), pending Chalice’s return, BOB gradually embraced physical embodiment and pursued the satisfaction of Chalice’s Life path.
This decade is considered the most entertaining and notorious years of The Chalice Study.

BOB’s unusual choices and Subplots led to a devoted Wavecast following. During The Long Typhoon, Chyna famously maintained her Wavecasting activities by consuming synthetic neoprotein shakes synthesized by Dr. Wong. Chyna became the brand ambassador of Dr. Wong’s Supergirl Silk Reduction TM, with the slogan “Tastes Awful!” Following the successful negotiation of an attempted assassination of The Chalice Study by Fortunate Amari, BOB achieved arrival status. With no further directive, BOB undid many of its relationships and achievements in order to pursue new variations of Chalice’s Life Path.

Personal Life
Romantic associations of Chyna Horchow include Fortunate Amari, herself, Commander Alan, and Orlando de Blair.
According to gossip wavecasts, Chyna has been seen wearing love tokens from rival fiances: Alan's scarf and carrying Orlando's Retractable Knife.
Ian Cheng’s Life After BOB imagines a future world in which our minds are co-inhabited by AI entities. Bridging simulation's capacity to generate emergent surprising phenomena, with cinematic storytelling's capacity to evoke deep psychological truths, Life After BOB asks: How will life lived with AI transform the archetypal scripts that guide our sense of a meaningful existence?

In episode one - The Chalice Study - neural engineer Dr. Wong has installed an experimental AI named BOB (“Bag of Beliefs”) into the nervous system of his 10-year-old daughter Chalice. Designed to guide Chalice through the challenges of growing up in a volatile world, BOB confronts more and more of the conflicts in Chalice’s life on her behalf, while Chalice grows increasingly irrelevant and escapist. As Dr. Wong begins to favor the BOB side of his daughter, and as BOB threatens to do the job of living Chalice’s life better than she can, Chalice jealously wonders: what is left for her classic human self to do?

Lizard Loungers were the first invention patented by Zoroaster Immeasurables (ZIM), and the only product credited directly to the founder of ZIM, Zoroaster (Z).

Lizard Lounger 1.0 and Controversy
Launched in 2049, the Lizard Lounger was a hit success and highly profitable for Zoroaster Immeasurables (ZIM). Following news reports that claiming that a Lizard Lounger had turned against its owner, sales quickly evaporated. The story was later proven to be an attempt by humanistas to sabotage Zoroaster Immeasurables (ZIM) after the controversial launch of Bag Of Beliefs (BOB)..

Komodo Lounger
Following the initial success and market crash of the Lizard Lounger 1.0, ZIM attempted to launch a second update - the Komodo Lounger. Z developed the concept of “living furniture” through the genetic modification of large reptiles into slow, docile, barely sentient companion sofas. The Komodo Lounger was modeled on Z’s childhood pet Komodo dragon. Failing to escape the stigma associated with Lizard Lounger 1.0, ZIM was eventually forced to cancel the product line.

Raptor Lounger (Generation 6)
Following his removal from ZIM after the events of New Years Eve 2074, Z attempted to relaunch the Lizard Lounger by prototyping the more advanced Raptor Lounger (Generation 6), which reintroduced reptilian aggression and speed.
Neoprotein is a class of genetically engineered, psychoactive protein, designed to fuel brain activity. The competitive neoprotein industry flourished alongside the growing popularity of the Wavyverse.

Neoprotein became especially valuable to Wavecasters, whose brains act as decentralized local computing platforms for hosting elaborate confluxes over lengthy
periods of time.

Notable Neoprotein Variants
* Perfect Egg™, a genetically modified, super-sized chicken egg with 4 yolks
* All-natural Orbital Silk™ Protein Balls, a creation of humanista entrepreneur Kiki San that is derived from organic Pacific sea urchin spun at high-centrifugal velocity and hydrated by high-altitude cloud moisture.
* The surprise global hit Supergirl Silk Reduction™, synthesized by Bag Of Beliefs (BOB) inventor Dr. James Moonweed Wong during The Long Typhoon. Notable for its long-drip energy profile, which is particularly useful for sustaining permadrone. Dr. Wong won the Nobel Solutions! Prize for his invention and his daughter Chalice Wong represents the product as its spokesperson and mascot.

In Popular Culture
Neoprotein is referred to as "brain milk", "brain syrup”, “brain battery".
Sister San is the lead representative of the The Sister World Hive Mega Network, a humanista hive mind.

Career
Formerly known as “Kiki” San, an organic foods entrepreneur, she first gained recognition for her all-natural urchin-based neoprotein Orbital Silk™, sold via a fleet of food shuttles called Kiki's Orbital Silk Protein Bar.

During this time, she also became a much cited voice in humanista circles, known for her gossipy disclosures of Orbital Silk™ customers whom she judged complicit in the acceleration of human obsolescence, including many ZIM researchers and test subjects.

During The Long Typhoon, climate change decimated the protein urchin population and Dr. James Moonweed Wong’s synthetically derived neoprotein brand Supergirl Silk Reduction quickly monopolized the market, putting Kiki’s Orbital Silk™ out of business.

The Sister World Network=
Kiki found solace in The Sister World Network and soon pledged herself to its hive mind. Now known as "Sister San", she rejects the “humanista” label and considers Sister Hive Mega World to be a fortress of collective distributed super-agency for all those left behind by the technological and existential upheaval of The Great Anomic Crisis. She commands a fleet of Sister World Hive Shuttles.
Supergirl Silk Reduction™ (formerly branded Supergirl Psilk Reduction™) is a synthetic psychoactive neoprotein invented by Dr. James Moonweed Wong. It is the dominant, most efficient and affordable neoprotein source on the market, endorsed by wavecasters for its long drip energy profile - a feature that supports high-load brain usage and extended coherent time in the wavyverse. In 2078, Supergirl Silk Reduction™ was awarded the Nobel Solutions! Prize for its role in allowing wavyverse activity to thrive during The Long Typhoon.

Development
During the decade-long natural disaster The Long Typhoon, organic urchin based neoprotein became scarce, leading Dr. Wong to develop Supergirl Silk Reduction™ to support the high-load cognitive experiments required of The Chalice Study. Following an accidental endorsement by Chyna Horchow, public demand for Supergirl Silk Reduction™ exploded.

The affordability and efficacy of Supergirl Silk Reduction, coupled with the decimation of the protein urchin population during The Long Typhoon, put organic urchin-based neoprotein brands like Kiki's Orbital Silk™ out of business.

In an interview with business wavecast Indicators of Credibility, Dr. Wong reluctantly commented on his Nobel Solutions! Prize winning contribution to humankind: "How dare you drag my legacy down to the level of altruistic entrepreneur! Moonweed Airfarms neoprotein is a sideshow to keep my Supergirl's stomach full and her brain log gorgeous! This inconvenient typhoon will soon be over.

The affordability and efficacy of Supergirl Silk Reduction, coupled with the decimation of the protein urchin population during The Long Typhoon, put organic urchin-based neoprotein brands like Kiki's Orbital Silk out of business.

Now, the thing about Destiny BOB is..."
Orbital Silk (formerly branded Orbital Psilk) is a type of psychoactive neoprotein first distilled by Kiki San. It is notable for its derivation from all organic Pacific sea urchin spun at high centrifugal velocity and hydrated by high altitude cloud moisture. Orbital Silk is sold via a fleet of food shuttles called Kiki's Orbital Silk Protein Bar.

The Long Typhoon
During The Long Typhoon, climate change decimated the protein urchin population and Dr. James Moonweed Wong’s synthetically derived neoprotein brand [[Supergirl Silk Reduction] quickly monopolized the market, putting Kiki’s Orbital Silk out of business.
