Delta Drop is a term of art for the felt experience of sudden chaotic change.
In Anomic Studies, such steep changes are relative: civilization might be objectively getting better, but sudden chaotic changes in the environment are registered by the human nervous system as negative emotional spikes. Because the human nervous system is not evolved for delta drops occurring at high frequency, coping technologies such as Affirmation BOB have become popular for delta regulation.
